You can't always get what you want

I have of late been at a low ebb. The contract role I’d been in for the last two years which gave me some much needed stability came to an end last month. Since then I’ve been a bit rudderless. I do like a routine, partly because it gives me a foundation to be able to bounce around doing all various activities. It’s only been twenty two days but I’m feeling more than a little lost.

Which means it takes an extra effort to be creative. I was contemplating not submitting to the RA Summer Exhibition for my annual rejection. I’d picked up from the last two years that the RA do like a call back to art history and a visual joke, which gave me an idea based around The Death of Marat  by Jacques-Louis David. It’s a very different direction to my usual work, I had a few passes at it, then run out of time. I finished the version above but still can’t tell if it’s shit. I would be amazed if it even got short listed if I’m honest. I should have given myself the time to have another pass at it.
