It's All Beginning To Change

I dunno if it was my annual rejection from the RA or there being no prospect of an exhibition on the horizon, but my painting practice has been at a low ebb recently. I have been very busy and also my writing has been going really well. I’ve been focused on finishing ‘Oblivion Black: Poisoned Kingdom’ the follow up to my big ol’ barnstormer, but yes, I’ve been feeling uninspired with my art.

I’ve been trying some self portraits, and the one pictured I’d been working and working on, trying to convince myself that it was working, until finally one day I walked into my studio and had to admit defeat. So I decided to paint over most of it and try again.

I realised that I was going back to the same subject matter, which isn’t holding any surprises now, so time for a change. Just today I bought new paper, stabled it to the walls of my studio and began to prep it for new work. I have some photos arriving soon from gigs I’ve been to recently and one of my occasional studio clear out’s is under way.

So laying the foundation for the start of new work and there is the prospect of an exhibition in London later in the year.
