With a Little Help from my friends

A few years ago I had the idea for a novel based around Doctor Who fandom. I've been involved in fandom for twenty odd years (and they have been odd, very odd) and it at times I've been a bigger fan of the social side than the actual programme. When ever I told my non-fan friends about stuff that happened at conventions, inter-fan politics and meeting people involved in the show they seemed to find it charming and more than a little funny,

The idea kicked about for a few years and then morphed into a web series. Technology is now so accessible that you can get some pretty impressive results with very little kit. I'm very lucky to know some very creative people, and when I pitched the idea to a director friend of mine - Ed Sinclair it really took off. We cast a team of talented actors Brian Smith, Sean Carlsen and Andreas Constantino. We've managed to film eight five minute episodes on a wing and a pray. We launched a Kickstarter campaign to pay for the final episode and got very close to our £5k target but not quite close enough, but we have some back up plans to get funding...

We started publishing episodes every week from the 23rd of November. 'Anoraks' has taken a huge bite out of my year but it's been brilliant. Hard work but the most creatively collaborative project I've worked on, and also one of the most satisfying.
