Amor Fati

So I find myself on the eve of another Cardiff half marathon. I've lost count of how many I've done five or six? This is the first I've done in about two years and I've heard that the organisers have finally got the route sorted out.

The training has been so/so, not helped by the fact that I haven't atken any time off drinking which has definately impacted my running. For the firs time ever I've picked up not one but two injuries. The first was a sprained ankle but the second was a bit more worrying. I was running up a hill in Bristol when I got a stabbing pain in my chest which swivelled around to my side and back. It was so painful that I couldn't run, and it hurt for two days after. I took a day off, slept in, slapped a bit of Deep Heat on my back and it seemed to clear up although I have still had some aches and pains. I've been out for a few runs since including a very pacey ParkRun and haven't felt anything bad, so here's hoping for Sunday. If I get another twinge I'll have to drop out, but it shouldn't come to that. Currently my eye is on the Boston Marathon on the 21st of April next year, so just got to get round Cardiff and then a few drinks in The City Arms.
